BME TFK interpreting trainees interpreted other European associations’ chairs at 30 th festive
general assembly of MFTE
The Association of Hungarian Translators and Interpreters (MFTE) held its 30 th general assembly on 29 March 2019 in Budapest. To the festive event, they had invited the chairs of four European translator and interpreter associations. Representing their respective organisations, the Belgian, Slovak, Serb and Czech guests introduced their own association, which part-time interpreter trainees from the University of Technology and Economics (BME) were rendering into Hungarian in the consecutive mode, in front of dozens of professional translators and interpreters. They also had the opportunity to test themselves in a chuchotage mode from Hungarian into English to improve their retour skills in a real-life setting.
